Frequently Asked Questions
What is Chiropractic All About? - The general perception of chiropractic care is twisting and cracking adjustments for back pain, neck pain, and car accidents. This is untrue. Chiropractic care is a full system of health looking to the central nervous system and how it controls all function, systems, and healing. When the spine or system is out of alignment or subluxated, the overall performance, balance, and how it affects the central nervous system is affected. By removing the interference at the spine, the body restores to better balance, range of motion, and nervous system expression allowing high potential for healing and overall well being.
What if I am pregnant or want to bring a child? - We love working with kids of all ages! Birth is where the first trauma begins and we want to be sure that the system is always clear of subluxation to create a healthier self and prevent future ails. We have trained for children specifically to make adjustments both fun and educational. Our office is Webster Certified specifically for pregnancy to make sure that mom is as comfortable as possible to have an easy and successful pregnancy and birthing process.
What is a Subluxation - In Chiropractic, a subluxation refers to a misalignment in the spine that causes the body to operate less than optimal through the central nervous system. We honor your body's innate design to function and heal, and check to be sure that you leave the office without subluxation to allow for better movement, function, and ability to live your best life.
Is Chiropractic Safe? - Our approach with chiropractic is not like what you see on YouTube or TikTok. There is no twisting or 'cracking' but has demonstrable and profound results.
What is a chiropractic adjustment? - A chiropractic adjustment is a specific force intended to correct the subluxated spine to restore balance, movement, and overall function. At our office, our adjustment is precise and gentle similar to the same pressure you would use to test a tomato.
How many visits to a chiropractor do I need? - Each case is different and we do not pretend that we can predict your response. Generally, you should feel some objective changes soon after the first few visits, but two to four weeks is a reasonable expectation to see a response before changing the initial care plan.
What causes a subluxation? - Our system is articulated bones protecting the nerves surrounded by muscles and fascia. This complex system can distort from a number of different stressors. Stress to the system is inevitable and can happen in many forms including physical, chemical or emotional traumas. By addressing each of these phases of care, we create the most resilient being able to adapt to these stresses better to minimize misalignment.
When do I stop chiropractic treatment? - The doctor will create a custom care plan for your particular case and needs. Some more complex cases require more time or treatment. Once our goals are met, many choose to continue under a maintenance and wellness program.
What are the health benefits of chiropractic care? - There is endless research and study showing how proper motion, nervous system function, and normal posture relates to overall health. We work to optimize your state of being in each of these phases.
What techniques do you use in your office? - Our office is trained in a myriad of specialized techniques including TIC, NUCCA, Knee Chest, Toggle, Network Spinal, BGI and more. There is no other Chiropractor in the city or state with this approach.
What should I expect from my first visit to a chiropractor? -Our first visit is the most important in that we get to do a through history and conversation about your health, goals and needs. From there we will evaluate your posture, range of motion, functional assessment, and Tytron spinal nerve scan. Once we figure out what is the issue at hand and if it we can help, we can begin treatment that day. If clinically indicated, we will order XRay or MRI or refer to the appropriate place to help you.
Do you adjust all patients the same way? - We have a protocol and approach that is different from most offices. Although not every person gets the same adjustment, the approach may look similar. We do whatever is needed for that person and their needs. One big difference with the Flow State is that our goal is to not adjust. Just like at the dentist where a good visit means no cavities, at our office no adjustment means a healthy and happy system.
What is Upper Cervical Chiropractic? - Upper Cervical Chiropractic is a niche that focuses on the upper neck where the brainstem exits and the head sits on the head. With a very specific and gentle adjustment, profound changes can be made without the need for excess treatment, manipulation, or otherwise. The biggest difference is instead of relying on treatment, when the Upper Cervical Spine is in proper alignment, the real changes happen. There are only a handful of doctors who practice this way in the state.
