When most people think of Chiropractic, there is this perception that it is all about back pain or twisting or cracking.🦴
But that is not the case!
Chiropractic is solely about getting the body in alignment, most importantly the spine, in order to allow the central nervous system to operate as best as possible.
When that happens, one can function, heal, and experience life at optimal as designed.💪
But what about pregnancy? Is there a reason that a pregnant person should see a Chiropractor?
There is a special certification through the International Pediatric Chiropractic Association that addresses this exact situation called the Webster Technique.👶🤱
When pregnancy begins, many changes begin to occur to make space for baby and continue the development of the child-to-be.
The biochemistry begins to change in the momma-to-be with the inset of a a hormone called relaxin.
This hormone allows the soft tissues in the body to 'relax' more as the pelvis and its attaching structures start to create more room for baby to develop.
Such muscles and tissues include: the sacrotuberous ligament, the psoas muscle, and the round ligament (that attaches directly to the uterus).

A trained Chiropractor will address these structures throughout pregnancy to allow for the process to be as successful as possible.
There are a few things the chiropractor will approach care with pregnant patients to ensure that mom has the happiest, healthiest and most comfortable experience:
Nervous system transmission
by addressing subluxation in the nervous system, mom's nerve signals will be at optimal transmission to dictate development of baby and regulation of self
Soft tissue integrity
utilizing the Webster technique and other strategies, the doctor will ensure that these structures create ease and balance for what houses baby and supports mom
Advice and support
whether exercise, stretches, or mobility, the doctor of chiropractic will help facilitate inevitable changes and hiccups along the way.
This safe and effective approach is helpful for mom-to-be whether she is in pain or not!🤯
It is about creating a nourishing and comfortable environment for baby to develop fully with optimal nerve function.
